Sand Sculpture - The Last Supper
The artist and his work, 1978. For almost 70 years until 1995, Fred Darrington created sand sculptures on the beach at Weymouth, where the extreme fineness of the sand combined with the pointed rather than rounded form of the grains provides ideal conditions for sculpting.
Ingredients for a Last Supper? Bread and fruit but no wine, and Jesus' disciples surely didn't eat a fried egg or an English sausage.
